Mr Freeze

Mr Freeze

I thought maybe you would like to meet my Mr. Freeze. We had a monochromatic challenge, if you do not know what that is, it is when you color something and it is all in the same shades of one color. At Color Me Creative, that is a copic community that I belong too. We have many very talented girls. I could not think of what to color. My oldest son David remember he is 42 years old, was over and he seen the other card I made with the same image My Super Hero for my grandson birthday and he will be 9 years old. He kept saying Mom I want this card but it is in the wrong color, you know I only like blues. I told him to bad that the card was for Aiden not for him. So of course I got thinking why not this image and I will do it in blues. I still have not given it to him but I will surprise him with it when I see him.blue card markers

These are all the copic markers I used. I just added some star brad that matched the blue. I hope you like him. I think he turned out pretty good. I think I better but on here were I got my image. I won it at Gingerloft and you can click here to go to her store.

Sorry I have not posted to much lately but I have been pretty sick with a darn cold for several weeks and finally called the doctor and she put me on some meds and I think they are starting to help. Try and stay healthy. Have a great week.

The time of the year, when true colors come out.

A little bit of Fall

I wanted to share this card with everyone before I sent it out. I made it for my brother his birthday is October 20, I really have a lot of birthdays this month. My brother is pretty special to me. He is a little more then a year younger then me, so we are pretty close in age. We were raised in Upper Michigan so I was trying to capture a little of what it was like were we lived. We lived around Iron Mountain, Norway area if you know a little about Michigan and in the back hills it get really beautiful and even a lot more full of color then is in the card. I do think he will like my card, most of the time when he gets a chance to see them he really likes my cards but unfortunately we do not get to see a lot of each other as my brother lives in Austin Texas and I’m in Wisconsin but we had a wonderful visit this summer for a couple of weeks. I did do this on watercolor paper. I used several kinds of inks. To start I did use my sponges to create the background and then I started to add the stamps. The stamps are mostly from Stampscapes but there are some from other companies. I do hope you enjoy my card. I took just a couple of pictures from out my front door to share with you some of the colors we have here in Wisconsin.

colors of Fall 2010

yellows of Fall 2010

just outside the house 2010

Wow! When you put them next to the card. It is really hard to capture those colors on paper. So bright and beautiful! The only thing is that they do not last very long, the wind and rain come and blow the leaves away. Have a great week everyone.

Heather has a large selection of images in her shop if you would like to stop by and check her images out. My image is called “Tommy in space”. These are the copic markers I used to color my image. I punched out some 1/2” circles and spelled out Happy Birthday and put those clear sticky back raised disks on each letter. I found a circle with the words fly away on it so I thought that would work for the theme of the card. Added some Stickles glitter glue red, yellow, orange, light blue to give the card some glow. Used Diamond glaze for the window on the space ship.

I hope everyone remembers you need to upload your creation at Card for Men challenge Blog. I had a wonderful week end. The weather here in Wisconsin is outstanding it was in the upper 70’s, sun was shining and the leaves are turning fabulous colors. No bugs hanging around ready to bite you. I do hope things are nice by you also. Have a great week, be safe.

Some more of my cards I did with sponges.

I have been waiting to post these cards on my blog for a long time. These are the cards that I did for my  tutorial that was published on Scrap book News and Review Magazine in August/September. They have an email address if you would like to check out how to get there magazine it is an on line magazine www.http://scrapbooknewsandreview.com/  you also can submit your work to them and if they like it they will email you and tell you what you have to do. This card was done with sponges with brilliance inks and copic markers.

I did not use a template.
This card I used a template I ripped out of a heavy card stock and I used Marvy Matchable inks. A lot of the stamps are from stampscapes.

This card here I used Brilliance inks and no template. I also used copic markers on the card. The stamp set is from the Angel Company.
I was really happy with the way the scenery cards turned out. I do have to say I really love doing them. I did a tutorial on my blog back in March of this year and if you missed it you can go to the archives and click on March and you should be able to find it.
This one was new to me. I found a new template, it is a southwest one. So I thought I would give it a try and see what happens. I do need to work with it a little but it is interesting. I do hope you enjoy my scenery cards as much as I do. Have a wonderful week end.

Oh boy, I’m in trouble now!! I can not only write a couple sentences about myself, so what am I going to do???? I thought maybe not write anything but that would not be nice. I do have to apologize for my blog… I’m sorry it really does not look really nice right now. I have been making some changes and a few things I tried to do did not work so I’m in a little mess. ^..^ SORRY!!! But I will get thing back together again.

AUTUMN is the most colorful time of year.

helloween tri card front

Is that not true? We at Cards for Men think it is and it is time for Challenge #20. Starting Sept. 27 and ends Oct. 10, 2010. The theme for this challenge is “AUTUMN”. Our Sponsor is Crafts and Me. Here is there email so you can stop by and see the wonderful things they have.

This is the wonderful prize you can win. This is a really cool image. Crafts and Me has everything for the card maker, with a wide range of rubber stamps from around the world. Teresa has just introduced her own range of rubber stamps from three international artists Hannah Lynn, Molly Harrison and Sara Burrier.

I think everyone knows how to make the Tri Shutter card. This card has been around for awhile now, you know I should not take that for granted because we always have new people. This is called a Tri Shutter Card and if you have never made one here are the directions to make one, it has a video with the directions. I’m not going to say they are really easy but they are…Got ya!!!! So if you click here you will find the directions. This was so much fun to make. I made it for my grandson that lives in South Dakota. I used a lot of buttons, stickers, a couple of stamps from PSX. Remember you have to up load your card to helloween_tri_card end

Are these buttons fun? It is just calling you to make something with me…., Check out those trees and the pumpkins….. cute!helloween_tri_card start

How fun is the scarecrow and it is a sticker, check out the hay stack with the pitch fork and the corn in the upper left corner. All stickers. This is just to easy to be real.

helloween_tri_card

Look at those dancing skeletons. I think my grandson Isaiah is going to be real happy to get this. He is 12 years old so he gets all the silliness his grandma does and he has fun with it also. I hope you like my silly card? I do not do many of these kinds of cards but it was fun for a change. Have a wonderful week.

I Love scenery cards, stop by and take a look.

As Fall draws near

I call this card “As Fall draws near”.

I do not know about you but I do love to do scenery cards. If you have seen my sponge card I did (March 2010 on my blog) these cards are not in any way like them. I will explain to you how I did the cards, as I show you the cards. First of all most of the stamps I used are from stampscapes, that is a name of a stamp company. Stampscapes email is http://www.stampscapes.com/ you will spend hours looking at what they have to offer.  I do use other stamps but I do not remember what company they are from. The ink I used is Marvy Matchables dye ink. This is also done on glossy paper only.

A walk in the woods

I call this card “A walk in the woods”.

After you have stamped your scene with StaZon Permanent Black ink. You need to find a focal point on your card, something you want to draw your eye to or you want to high light. Stampscapes has what is called a Tonal Applicator. It is an extension on sponging. Helps control light though the use of shadows, blends colors, and glazes your scene.Cabin in the woods

This one I call “ A cabin in the woods”.

Can pick out were I have pick my focal points?  The Tonal Applicator is a stamp that is pear shaped so it gives you some control in were you want to put the colors. Tap the Tonal Applicator LIGHTLY and in a condensed manner to achieve a spectrum of blended colors. ALWAYS start with your lightest colors and most of the time you will want that to be your focal point and you can have more than one focal point and by using your Applicator by tapping LIGHTLY the color in a condensed manner to achieve a spectrum of blender colors. As the sun goes down This card I call “ As the sun goes down”.

One things that is nice look at the shy’s, I mean really look at the sky! They are so many different colors. I live in Wisconsin. I have been to Arizona, Texas, Michigan, will I think you get the point the sky so stunning and so many colors no matter were you are. Keep your eyes open and remember. Then also the sky’s are different in the summer, winter, fall, spring, when it rains, any kind of change in weather.

The sun raise is so beautiful

I call “The Sun raise is so beautiful”.

You always have to use glossy paper. This will not work on matt paper and you need to use dye inks. DO NOT USE PIGMENT INKS.

As the storm leaves

This one I call “AS the storm leaves”.Those sun sets

This one I call “The Sun Sets are always different”.

It take a little practice but work with your colors and the Applicator. What is nice about the Applicator is you can get into places you never thought you could get into and it really blends the colors wonderfully. One of the key things is tap lightly because if you tap to hard you will make marks in your paper. Thought I would share this with you as it is another way of designing and creating cards. If some day you would like to try something like this, it is different and the cards can be stunning. They are wonderful for a manly card. I hope you have enjoyed this. Have a wonderful week end.

Happy Creating and Designing.

Of Course I do not have enough ribbon… (Boy am I going to here from my friends)Voom close up I also wanted to tell you I cut the image out with one of the Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Rectangles Large. Added a few more embellishments. This is the close up view of the image all done. The happy birthday is a stickers from Stampendous and they are made in the USA. I hope every one had a great week end. Weather here in Wisconsin was beautiful to day it was in the upper 70’s just wonderful. This time of year here by us, it is still a little early but give us several more weeks and the trees will be turning colors and the beauty of nature will be just shinning. The smell in the air is indescribable fresh.

One particular four-year old prayed,
"And forgive us our trash baskets
as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

A little boy was overheard praying:
"Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm having a real good time like I am."

A Sunday School teacher asked her little children, as they were on the way to church service,
"And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked ,
"Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?"
I mentally polished my halo, while I asked,
"No, how are we alike?"
"You're both old," he replied.

These children are so innocent and you never know what is going to come out of the mouths of children.

Have a wonderful week. Be safe!!

Top note card

This card is made with the top note sizzix cartridge from stampin’ up. It really is not that hard to make. (don’t you hate that when someone says that). Most of this was removed by Picasa. So I removed the directions.
