My Card Holder and it could be much more.

card holder bag

At FOR FUN Challenges this week is to make a card holder. All this is a paper bag. Wonderful Card Holders and even Gift Bags. The cost is almost nothing to make the card holder and you can make it to hold and size cards you want. This one I made to hold my 5” by 7” cards. I do make a lot of cards that size. The standard size sandwich bag you get at the store is good for the 5 1/2” by 4 1/4” cards. So we would love for you to join us at FOR FUN Challenges this week. We would love to see what you make.

card holder bag side

Here is a side view of the bag. I use heavy card stock on my card or gift bags it makes them much stronger. I did add some embellishments for today but if it is for me I do not usually do that but I use these all the time. I decorated this one different on the other side.

card holder bag

I used stampin up punch to punch a handle on the top. You can embellish it any way you want. If you have something else that will work for making a handle that wonderful. One thing when you punch the handle make sure the ends of the bag are pulled out on both sides because you could punch the ends it they are inward, you want to keep the edges away from the punch.

card holder bag left

You also could leave the bag long and decorate the lower half use one border punch on the top of the bag to make it look fancy and fold it over toward the front and this way it will seals the bag for a gift bag. You can use a punch add some ribbon and tie it closed. Just have fun and make it your creation. You even could cut the card stock wider on top and a little smaller on the bottom and see if you can get it to look like a flower pot.

card holder bag inside

The Card Holder holds a lot of cards. Just to give you some more ideas you can do with this. I also make them as garbage bags and carry the bags in my small craft bag when I go to some ones house. This way I have some place to put my garbage in and it folds up real small in my craft bag. All you do is measure the size of your bag and cut the card stock about 1/2 inch bigger on each end, now the length is up to you if you want it to be for standard size cards and remember do you want the cards standing up or on the sides so what you decide measure up and I would add a couple inches so you have room for your handle. Glue or tape the card stock to the bag, now that can be a little tricky. On the one side it is fine because the bags lays flat so line up your card stock with the bottom and tape it down. The other side is not as easy because you need to fold down the flap and it will not lay straight and do not make it. Just go ahead and tape your card stock right along that edge because when it opens it will all stand up perfect. I went down to our Card Store, it has all kinds of stuff for having parties and I found some white paper bags. Also they had bags much nicer ones in all kinds of colors but I did not want to pay what the store wanted for those bags. Maybe some day when I have to make a gift bag.

Thanks for stopping by. I you have any questions just let me know. Have a great day.

Something from many year ago, maybe you remember.

Aprons do you remember when? I do..

ATT00001

ATT00002

This is such a sweet story and I wanted to share it with everyone and I hope it brings back many of wonderful memories. It did for me.

Remember making an apron in Home Ec? Remember Home Ec? If we have to explain HOME EC. you can do not have to read this.

The History of 'APRONS'

grandma

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few and because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons required less material. But along with that, it served as a pot holder for
removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.
From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.

And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.
After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.
When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

REMEMBER:
Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron
.

I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love...

aprons

I remember making an apron in Home ec and I also remember making one for Fair one year and my grandma helping me. I did not win anything but I made something. I do not think I ever seen both my grandmothers without an apron on. I hope you enjoyed this I sure did and memories are the only way we can keep our family alive in our minds. Thanks for stopping.

"We Love the Green and Gold" (OFFICIAL HD MUSIC VIDEO): Pat McCurdy

Penguin Recession (open) Go Pack-1

I just can not help myself. I’m from Wisconsin and I’m so HAPPY FOR OUR GREEN PAY PACKERS.. That we have even made it this far!!! I made this card a long time ago when I was on the DT for The Stamping Boutique and the is one of their images. We had a challenge at that time some about our state football team. I’m a GREEN BAY PACKER FAN ALL MY LIFE AND I WATCH ALL THEIR GAME. I do not watch any other game. I have three sons so what I know about football I learned from them. Now it is much better. When they made a touch down, I would call it a home run so my guys would explain to me what everything was so now I call it like it is, but sometime I still get something wrong. I will say you know that little thingie you know…. and they just shake there heads.

 Penguin Recession (front)-2

If you want to listen to the song that is fine but if not, I just want you to know I’m real proud of our GREEN BAY PACKERS~~~GO PACK GO~~~ Oh, I hope you like my crazy card. Thanks for stopping.

Fairy Gilli

Miss Debbie

I made this card for my niece for her birthday. I think I’m going to have to mail it in a box because I think it is to big to fit in an envelope. I made it as an Easel card.

Miss Debbie flowers

I made the flowers with lace and sewed them together. In the background I used Martha Steward punch to created the leaves and branches. I used buttons for the center of each flower.

Miss Debbie close up

I frames in the stamped area with the same lace I made the flowers with. Added some pearls. Sponged the edge with coral brilliance ink. The stamp is from http://www:stampingscraping.com.com/  She is one of Gilli Stamps, her name is Fairy Gilli. There is a large selections of different styles of Gilli stamps.

Miss Debbie copic

Of Course this is a close up of the stamped image. I used some Stickles glitter glue to make her sparkle a little. I hope you like her.

Color Challenge at For Fun Challenge

olive and purple

This week at For Fun Challenges we have a color challenge it is Olive, purple and Black. I really had a lot of fun doing my card and I hope you will also. My background I sponged with Brilliance ink Olive and Violet. The stamp set I used for the background is from The Angel Company it is called “Branches in Bloom” and I stamped that with the Brilliance inks. I also used some dabbers to created some circles in different sizes. I used Nellies Floral Punches to create the flowers, it sure make it easy to make flowers and I put some rime stones in a soft lavender color in the middle. For the edges and the corners I used Blue Hills studio Lace Multi Shaper Punch. Added some silk purple butterflies and in the middle put some lavender pearls in each butterfly. Add some Stickles to give some sparkle star dust and lime green. After I did all of that I thought what am I missing BLACK so I added ribbon and a bow and some metal dots to bring in my black. So have fun and we will looking to see you card.

Poor Teddy, He’s my Best Friend

felt with the heart

Squigglefly’s first challenge for 2011. The theme is “Put your Heart into it” so you need to use an image that has a heart or you can add your own hearts. We had some NEW images released on Saturday so if you would like to see them you can click here and see the New ones and all the other ones as well. My images is called Love’s Healing Hands by Cheryl Alger. Now if you join tagged your cards SFC#80. Up load you card at Squigglefly Blog.

Me and ny Teddy copic colors

These are the copics I used use to color my image. I started to to it this way because I have several project going at one time so this way I can keep track of what colors I use. I personally do not know if it matter to you to know what colors I use, let me know if you really do not care or if you like to know? I have been to a lot of other blogs and I have seen that they are not putting the colors that they use on there images and when I see something that is colored really nice and I wonder what colors they used I would like to know, so I would like to know if you also would like to know???

felt heart close up

Here is a close up of the image I colored. I not real happy with her hair, but I love the way Teddy turned out. Sometimes I get the hair just fine and sometimes I have a problem.

felt heart upper right side

felt heart bottom

Here I have the top and the bottom of the card. The sentiment is a stamp from Stampabilities. I have soo much ribbon and I trying to use some of it up so you are going to see a lot of ribbon on my cards. The beaded hearts I have had for a long time so I do not know where I got them from but I thought they worked well with the card. The orange hearts are the sticky ones you get like stickers. There is now reason for the layout of the card, I wanted to use the scrapbooking paper because I liked it and I have so much and I need to use more papers on my cards.

Thanks for stopping by. I hoped you like my card. Have a wonderful week.

A Request From One Of Our Chaplains in Afghanistan.

Posted: 09 Jan 2011 08:07 AM PST

Please ask as many as possible to continue to pray for us.  It has

been a mild winter thus far, and so the fighting has continued.  Please

keep us lifted up before the Lord as we finish out these last 4 months.

April 2011 is getting closer.

I am including two pictures.  One is of a mountain near here that

finally has snow on it, and the other is of our flag in the sunset.

Both of these were taken with the last view of 2010.

MTN 2010

Flag 2010

Thank you again for everything,

Corey

It gets very cold in Afghanistan this time of year you can see in the mountains. I know I would not want to be in those mountains. So our man and woman are in need of our prayers so please remember to keep them in our thoughts and prayers every day.
