Merry ChrisMoose…. Sharing some fun Christmas Sites and also some Remember when, thoughts from the past….

I think this is the best time to show you my tag for Squigglefly’s Challenge #77 for this week right after Emma Christmas Moose that she made. We need to make a tag with non traditional Christmas colors. So I made my moose gray with blue horns and it is raining out, brown star and he is sitting on durt. It was fun to make. As I was coloring him it was kind of hard because all colors are Christmas colors. We have all kinds of NEW images in the store this week. So if you would like to stop by just click here.
Now with being December 1, WOW!!! can you believe that, this year as all the other ones just fly by. As I did last year I shared with you some interesting craft sites that have great Christmas gift ideas, also so had FREE stuff, had templates, all kinds of goodies. I do hope you will find something that will help you this Christmas.
All Free Crafts, They have so much everything FREE things for making stuff for Santa, wreath, centerpiece, easy tree trims food gifts, gift wrapping, snowman, stocking, reindeer, snowflakes, elf's, Angels, Kids crafts. I’m sure you will fine some thing there.
When I was a child we lived in a small town maybe about 500 hundred people. We lived right next door to the skating rink. If I remember right I think my Dad took care of the rink and there was a little house where people could go inside and get warm. It was in Upper part of Michigan so I do remember always having a lot of snow. I also remember (I was the middle child) my brothers yelling at me to get out of the way because I wanted to help shovel but my Dad would say let her help if she wants.I new I made more work for my brothers then I was helping. You can NEVER have Christmas without snow and oh how beautiful it was. My Mom and Grandma we would get together to make all kinds of different cookies, sweet breads, breads, and pies. The house would smell so good. It was a feeling of something magical have happening season. People just seamed different for some reason. We would have things around the house that we normally would not have. People would stop by the we have not seen in some time and even people would come from out of town and visit.
We will some more next time and more good site to go to also. Have a wonderful day. Happy crafting everyone.

Emma’s making her Reindeer

Emma and her reindeer

If you have not met yet, this is my grand daughter Emma. She just turned 5 years old and she loves to do crafts with grandma. She likes to visit Miss Holly blog when she come by grandma house and Miss Holly had some reindeer on her blog so we wanted to try and make some.

She love her reindeer Reindeer and Emma 2010

How we did then is we put Emma foot on the brown card stock and drew around mostly the back of her foot. The we took some lighter tan card stock and had Emma hold both of her hands down on the paper and we drew her hands and cut then out for the horns. But we can not make just one, we have to make one for Uncle Dave, Miss Lee, Mommy, and she even wanted to send Miss Holly one but I do not have her address so Miss Holly if you read this please email me your address.

Today is a day to always Remember

777px-Lest_we_forget

For the benefit of my mostly US audience, in the UK and many other countries we buy paper poppies around the 11th to commemorate those who served and those who fell during the World Wars 1 & 2, The Vietnam War, The Civil War, The Saudi Arabia War, Iraq War and sorry if I missed any other war.  All these MEM and WOMAN need  to be HONORED AND REMEMBERED for they gave their lives for everyone of us so we can live in FREEDOM. The poppies specifically memorialize the killing fields in France and Belgium during WWI where the "lions led by donkeys" on both sides killed each other in unimaginable numbers. Day in, day out. Only the Spanish Flu of 1918 out killed the machine guns, mustard gas and barbed wire.

In that spirit, no matter what your politics, no matter where you live today, no matter what else you are doing or celebrating this November 11th, I would ask only this: Please take a moment today to remember the Fallen and their sacrifices, no matter where they fell nor for what cause.
Let us make it so that, for today at least, we will remember them.

                      “FOR THE FALLEN”
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

My wonderful sweet friend Shirley thinks I should have this award. I can understand some people might think I have an attitude problem but I hope they think it is a good one. Treat Boxes for the kids at School

It is that time of year. This year Grandma and Grandpa get to have the fun with the kids. Mommy (Jessica) has to work so we get to have the Emma and Aiden for the week end. Dad has been out of town since Oct 17 my son (Kurt) is in the Army Reverses and every so often he has to be out of town for several weeks, this time he will be back Nov 8.

I used the Marvy Extra Large green circle punch, Marvy Large lavender circle punch, Marvy Medium pink circle punch. You could put leaves on the front if you want. I wanted to put an Owl, make the Owl with Stampin’ up Owl punch but all three of us though it was to much so we decided not to do it.
So Lee and myself made bows and we thought that was perfect. I also used Martha Stewart punch and I can not think of the name of it but I would punch a 12 by 12 sheet of scrapbook paper all the way across and then fold it in half and that was the size of the handle. I put ribbon on top of the scrapbook paper to make it stronger.
Emma has a total of 17 kids in her class and 3 teachers, she is in pre school. Aiden has 26 kids in his class and he has 2 teacher and he is in 3rd grade.
By the time we where done we made a total of 68 treat boxes. So that is a little more than I need so I’m going to give one to Lee for her great niece and I’m sure Chris maybe has someone she would like to give some to also. If I have any left over I will take the candy out and save them for next year and maybe do this again. Thanks for stopping. Have a wonderful week end.

Carmel Apple-Nut Bars for National Dessert Day

CupcakeLady

I couldn’t let a special day like National Dessert Day go by without sharing a yummy dessert with you!

Perfect for apple picking season, these Caramel Apple-Nut Bars are delicious and super easy too!

Picking apples is one of those family activities that we all enjoy! There are some things, like going to the Pumpkin Patch or picking Apples, that is an ageless activity, even my teenagers enjoy the time we spend there.

Caramel Apple-Nut Bars Recipe {adapted from Betty Crocker}

  • 2 cups flour, all-purpose is fine
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup caramel topping (store bought or homemade)
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup nuts, coarsely chopped

I’ve changed the step-by-step a bit this time, just trying something new with the pictures.

Combine 2 cups flour, brown sugar, oats, baking soda and salt.

Add Butter, and combine well.

Press about 3 cups of the mixture into a greased 13×9 pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Combine caramel topping and flour

Peel and chop apples and nuts, sprinkle over partially baked crust. Drizzle caramel topping mixture and top with remaining crust.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.

Now of course, eating them plain, they were delish! But, we just had to add a little more…

Ice cream and drizzle of caramel sauce!  Oh my!! I could have eaten the whole pan!

I found this place that has so many fantastic recipes it is called Hoosiers Homemade. If you would like to check it out here is where you can find then. Thanks for stopping. I hope you enjoy, they are very good.

 Happy Halloween open

This is a some what down word look at the card. My card is called a landscape easel. I love the fullness it gives you to create on the front of your card and it really folds down nice. I did not think to take a picture of it folded down until just now, so I’m in deep do do!! SORRY Halloween night markers

These are the copic markers I used to color my images and card. For the sky I used Brilliance ink sky blue, yellow, purple, lavender, Mediterranean blue and a sky template.  I made a template of the landscape easel  card so it made it real easy to line up how I wanted every thing to display on the card. I thought I was going to have to cut out the hunted house and I did not all I did was take the template and lay it over the house I had printed out and lined it up and drew the oval around the house and I only had to cut out the very top of the house. I did cut out the mummy and the Happy Halloween sentiment. I punched out some ghosts. On the bottom the candy corn are 3 brads. The happy hunting is a ribbon. The skull and the pumpkins are bottoms. I used some Stickles glitter glue yellow and orange. Holy Moley do you think this is enough? Happy Halloween copic

Here is the real make it or brake it….. Is this beyond cool or what? What do you think??? The close ups are always the real test.. Because if their is OH HO’S now they will show. just kidding.. I how you enjoy my card. Come back again some some time. Thanks for stopping.
