Miss Molly just hanging around.

                    molly sitting

Miss Molly is a stamp set from The Angel Company. Cuddlebug embossing folder for the back around. The corners are punched out with Carl’s punch, put some silver thread around the the corners to frame the card in. Used Spellbinders, Scalloped oval and oval. To cut out the image.

I’m sorry I did not put a side the copic markers I used to color Miss Molly, but I did use copic markers. A very simple card.

Treat Boxes for the kids at School

It is that time of year. This year Grandma and Grandpa get to have the fun with the kids. Mommy (Jessica) has to work so we get to have the Emma and Aiden for the week end. Dad has been out of town since Oct 17 my son (Kurt) is in the Army Reverses and every so often he has to be out of town for several weeks, this time he will be back Nov 8.

I used the Marvy Extra Large green circle punch, Marvy Large lavender circle punch, Marvy Medium pink circle punch. You could put leaves on the front if you want. I wanted to put an Owl, make the Owl with Stampin’ up Owl punch but all three of us though it was to much so we decided not to do it.
So Lee and myself made bows and we thought that was perfect. I also used Martha Stewart punch and I can not think of the name of it but I would punch a 12 by 12 sheet of scrapbook paper all the way across and then fold it in half and that was the size of the handle. I put ribbon on top of the scrapbook paper to make it stronger.
Emma has a total of 17 kids in her class and 3 teachers, she is in pre school. Aiden has 26 kids in his class and he has 2 teacher and he is in 3rd grade.
By the time we where done we made a total of 68 treat boxes. So that is a little more than I need so I’m going to give one to Lee for her great niece and I’m sure Chris maybe has someone she would like to give some to also. If I have any left over I will take the candy out and save them for next year and maybe do this again. Thanks for stopping. Have a wonderful week end.

Carmel Apple-Nut Bars for National Dessert Day

CupcakeLady

I couldn’t let a special day like National Dessert Day go by without sharing a yummy dessert with you!

Perfect for apple picking season, these Caramel Apple-Nut Bars are delicious and super easy too!

Picking apples is one of those family activities that we all enjoy! There are some things, like going to the Pumpkin Patch or picking Apples, that is an ageless activity, even my teenagers enjoy the time we spend there.

Caramel Apple-Nut Bars Recipe {adapted from Betty Crocker}

  • 2 cups flour, all-purpose is fine
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup caramel topping (store bought or homemade)
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup nuts, coarsely chopped

I’ve changed the step-by-step a bit this time, just trying something new with the pictures.

Combine 2 cups flour, brown sugar, oats, baking soda and salt.

Add Butter, and combine well.

Press about 3 cups of the mixture into a greased 13×9 pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Combine caramel topping and flour

Peel and chop apples and nuts, sprinkle over partially baked crust. Drizzle caramel topping mixture and top with remaining crust.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.

Now of course, eating them plain, they were delish! But, we just had to add a little more…

Ice cream and drizzle of caramel sauce!  Oh my!! I could have eaten the whole pan!

I found this place that has so many fantastic recipes it is called Hoosiers Homemade. If you would like to check it out here is where you can find then. Thanks for stopping. I hope you enjoy, they are very good.

 Happy Halloween open

This is a some what down word look at the card. My card is called a landscape easel. I love the fullness it gives you to create on the front of your card and it really folds down nice. I did not think to take a picture of it folded down until just now, so I’m in deep do do!! SORRY Halloween night markers

These are the copic markers I used to color my images and card. For the sky I used Brilliance ink sky blue, yellow, purple, lavender, Mediterranean blue and a sky template.  I made a template of the landscape easel  card so it made it real easy to line up how I wanted every thing to display on the card. I thought I was going to have to cut out the hunted house and I did not all I did was take the template and lay it over the house I had printed out and lined it up and drew the oval around the house and I only had to cut out the very top of the house. I did cut out the mummy and the Happy Halloween sentiment. I punched out some ghosts. On the bottom the candy corn are 3 brads. The happy hunting is a ribbon. The skull and the pumpkins are bottoms. I used some Stickles glitter glue yellow and orange. Holy Moley do you think this is enough? Happy Halloween copic

Here is the real make it or brake it….. Is this beyond cool or what? What do you think??? The close ups are always the real test.. Because if their is OH HO’S now they will show. just kidding.. I how you enjoy my card. Come back again some some time. Thanks for stopping.

Mr Freeze

Mr Freeze

I thought maybe you would like to meet my Mr. Freeze. We had a monochromatic challenge, if you do not know what that is, it is when you color something and it is all in the same shades of one color. At Color Me Creative, that is a copic community that I belong too. We have many very talented girls. I could not think of what to color. My oldest son David remember he is 42 years old, was over and he seen the other card I made with the same image My Super Hero for my grandson birthday and he will be 9 years old. He kept saying Mom I want this card but it is in the wrong color, you know I only like blues. I told him to bad that the card was for Aiden not for him. So of course I got thinking why not this image and I will do it in blues. I still have not given it to him but I will surprise him with it when I see him.blue card markers

These are all the copic markers I used. I just added some star brad that matched the blue. I hope you like him. I think he turned out pretty good. I think I better but on here were I got my image. I won it at Gingerloft and you can click here to go to her store.

Sorry I have not posted to much lately but I have been pretty sick with a darn cold for several weeks and finally called the doctor and she put me on some meds and I think they are starting to help. Try and stay healthy. Have a great week.

The time of the year, when true colors come out.

A little bit of Fall

I wanted to share this card with everyone before I sent it out. I made it for my brother his birthday is October 20, I really have a lot of birthdays this month. My brother is pretty special to me. He is a little more then a year younger then me, so we are pretty close in age. We were raised in Upper Michigan so I was trying to capture a little of what it was like were we lived. We lived around Iron Mountain, Norway area if you know a little about Michigan and in the back hills it get really beautiful and even a lot more full of color then is in the card. I do think he will like my card, most of the time when he gets a chance to see them he really likes my cards but unfortunately we do not get to see a lot of each other as my brother lives in Austin Texas and I’m in Wisconsin but we had a wonderful visit this summer for a couple of weeks. I did do this on watercolor paper. I used several kinds of inks. To start I did use my sponges to create the background and then I started to add the stamps. The stamps are mostly from Stampscapes but there are some from other companies. I do hope you enjoy my card. I took just a couple of pictures from out my front door to share with you some of the colors we have here in Wisconsin.

colors of Fall 2010

yellows of Fall 2010

just outside the house 2010

Wow! When you put them next to the card. It is really hard to capture those colors on paper. So bright and beautiful! The only thing is that they do not last very long, the wind and rain come and blow the leaves away. Have a great week everyone.

Heather has a large selection of images in her shop if you would like to stop by and check her images out. My image is called “Tommy in space”. These are the copic markers I used to color my image. I punched out some 1/2” circles and spelled out Happy Birthday and put those clear sticky back raised disks on each letter. I found a circle with the words fly away on it so I thought that would work for the theme of the card. Added some Stickles glitter glue red, yellow, orange, light blue to give the card some glow. Used Diamond glaze for the window on the space ship.

fly away markers

I hope everyone remembers you need to upload your creation at Card for Men challenge Blog. I had a wonderful week end. The weather here in Wisconsin is outstanding it was in the upper 70’s, sun was shining and the leaves are turning fabulous colors. No bugs hanging around ready to bite you. I do hope things are nice by you also. Have a great week, be safe.

Some more of my cards I did with sponges.

I have been waiting to post these cards on my blog for a long time. These are the cards that I did for my  tutorial that was published on Scrap book News and Review Magazine in August/September. They have an email address if you would like to check out how to get there magazine it is an on line magazine www.http://scrapbooknewsandreview.com/  you also can submit your work to them and if they like it they will email you and tell you what you have to do. This card was done with sponges with brilliance inks and copic markers.

I did not use a template.
This card I used a template I ripped out of a heavy card stock and I used Marvy Matchable inks. A lot of the stamps are from stampscapes.

This card here I used Brilliance inks and no template. I also used copic markers on the card. The stamp set is from the Angel Company.
I was really happy with the way the scenery cards turned out. I do have to say I really love doing them. I did a tutorial on my blog back in March of this year and if you missed it you can go to the archives and click on March and you should be able to find it.
This one was new to me. I found a new template, it is a southwest one. So I thought I would give it a try and see what happens. I do need to work with it a little but it is interesting. I do hope you enjoy my scenery cards as much as I do. Have a wonderful week end.
